The Bereavement Ministry comprises a dedicated group of volunteers at the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes. We provide a ministry of compassion and care, supporting parishioners and their families during times of loss. We believe in walking alongside one another during life’s most challenging moments. Guided by our Catholic faith and the hope in the Resurrection, we journey with those who mourn, rooted in Christ’s love and compassion, with prayerful presence and heartfelt support.
To provide emotional comfort with spiritual guidance and support to the grieving families during their time of loss, helping them navigate their grief and find solace in the promise of eternal life through prayer.
We assist families in planning funeral Masses, including Scripture readings, hymns, and liturgical details following Catholic tradition.
Our volunteers offer a welcoming presence during wakes and organize prayers to pray for the souls of the faithful departed and for the grieving family members, helping to create a respectful and comforting environment.
Grief continues beyond the funeral. If requested, we provide follow-up outreach, spiritual resources, and invitations to memorial liturgies throughout the year.
The Bereavement Ministry is an outreach ministry to support members of our parish who are mourning the death of a loved one. The ministry provides personal contact during the time of grieving.
The Bereavement Ministry tries to be the compassionate heart and hands of our Lord Jesus. No one can feel or remove another’s pain, but everyone can walk beside and support another who is sorrowful. Those involved in our Bereavement Ministry find that in supporting others, our faith is nourished and deepened. We ask you to prayerfully consider this wonderful ministry.
